Mr. President, we will defend Iloilo City, the Batchoy and Biscocho.

Dear Mr. President,

First of all, I deeply admire your staunch campaign against illegal drugs in our country. You are the first president who engaged exhaustively in this fight.

We are one in ensuring that this country will become a safer place for everyone. However, what you have said earlier, declaring in national media, that Iloilo City is the most “shabolized” city in the whole country is unacceptable for me—an Ilonggo who takes pride from our culture and tradition in Iloilo.

Labeling Iloilo City as the most “shabolized” sends a cornucopia of messages that can be interpreted and can be twisted by malicious minds. Let’s be clear here, I am not defending the alleged drug personalities and coddlers in Iloilo City.

I am defending the innocent, hardworking, the law abiding Ilonggos and even your voters who enjoy the gift of liberty and democracy in the City of Love, whom you now tainted with drugs. You placed us in a position of discrimination and bias. We don’t deserve this. You can’t associate our totality with the single acts of the few.

Mr. President, you are a champion of MALASAKIT, I now refused to believe that. Those words came out from your mouth without regards and compassion.

Spoken words are like spent arrows, you can’t take it back. You annihilated the very essence of being an Ilonggo; you robbed us from our identity and peace. You inspired divisions and not unity. How can we heal this country?

In Iloilo, we enjoy the love of the people. Our city is not considered as the most livable in the country for no reason.

Our Batchoy expresses love and compassion; we will protect it from any person, including you. Our Batchoy does not have drugs.

Our Biscocho possesses the passion that we have. We will protect it from anyone who will tarnish our identity. Our Biscocho is not made by drug addicts and pushers.

Our river is very clean; in fact it is considered as one of the cleanest river within the city in the whole world. We will protect this from anyone who will throw anything in our peaceful waters.

Most importantly, our people.

We are loving, we don’t get angry easily, we welcome anyone in our city. Our voice can solve problems. We are not drug pushers. We are not drug addicts.

Here in Iloilo, we value the the family, peace and love.

Typhoon Yolanda made us stronger. We never knelled for anyone except to Senoya Candelaria and  Senyor Sto. Nino. We value religion and morality, that’s why we are living in peace and harmony.

We don’t need to kill a person just to show that we are strong. We even forgive our enemies.

You said that we need to let go of our past grudges, and together, let’s move forward. How can you do this if every day, you are inflicting pain to the morals of the Filipino people? As President, your words are very influential; it can both destroy and create a nation.  As President, you need to be conscientious of the words you say. We are listening to you. We care for you.

Mr. President, congratulations you just have killed all the Ilonggos in Iloilo. I will not ask you to issue an apology. What you have done is UNFILIPINO.

Now, I’m hoping that you are happy.

#Mutya

  1. Why not declare persona non grata all those persons who will support PDUTZ allegations that ILOILO is most shabulized city in the Philippines Is PDUTZ is very sure that DAVAO is not also a shabulized city in our country. I 101% support PDUTZ fight against illegal drugs but with due process & observance of the rule of law.

    1. Juan Pauco many Ilonggos works hard to achieve for Iloilo, just to be tarnished by this Psycopath. Worst of all, we know who and who are not in the City. The attacked is political, Iloilo is solid Liberal, so He is starting to shame the people here. He even name a non-existing judge in Iloilo and a PNP official who died 9 years ago. This is a political mileage for political opponents especially of the City Mayor who attracts so much investment for this city, he envy Iloilo because its far..FAR better than Davao City!!!I’ve been to Davao, the place is more dangerous than Iloilo..sa totoo lang!!!

      1. Thanks Cassey. You hit it damn right. Davao City is the most dangerous city in the world ‘coz so many killings in the city. Iloilo is the cleanest and most livable city in the world because of the hospitality of the people and the peaceful attitude of the Ilonggos. The Ilong-Irong River is the cleanest river in the city. We should fight and defend our city even to the police who would instigate rampant killings of suspected Ilonggo addicts without due process and respect for the law.

    2. He could’ve just name-dropped those mayors’ names. It’s obvious that the seat of our President’s impulse has transferred into his mouth. What he said is ambiguous, anyone could take what he said out of his context. And who knew, may nakatama pala sa kung ano man gusto niya sabihin? Dubbing Iloilo City as most shabulized is overly generalized. No one can blame why, we, Ilonggo were here and rooting for what the writer of this article said. Sige, sabihin na natin lilipas din to, pero gaya ng sinabi mo na baka galit lang si Pres. ng sinabi niya yun eh same reason din bakit nandito yun article na to ngayon? Lilipas din to kuya Jun Pauco. Upset lang kami. Relax ka lang.

  3. Ok , mutya I will say sorry !!!,I don’t think our president means all the people of ilo ilo ..but maybe just the place because it has been notice that all those leaders who are from there are really active in doing their trade which is in regards to drugs instead of the actual job they have as being government official ..he meant nothing to hurts the people but sometimes when a person is really angry he can say something that is not really meant as it is from how it was said ..he does not meant all the citizen of ilo ilo are drug addict …but a lot of activities are kind of there and also to muntinlupa and vice versa …as we all know there is that lady vice mayor that is active in going back and forth to see her boyfriend in the bilibid .we all should be one in solving this problem because it is our country and the whole generation and maybe the next generation will be in deep troubles if we did not solve this problem …and thank you to GOD that we were send a person like our Tatay DIGONG to be the leader in solving it because none really do a things to solved it but instead become colaburator of the crime and the protector of the drug lords …thank you …hope you consider this messages .

  4. He should come by himself to see what’s really in Iloilo City, I personally was hurt by what he said in national tv, it could be that Iloilo City is more prominent and livable city compared to his own hometown. Bussiness men prefers to invest in Iloilo rather than in Davao. Our local government is believing in softer way of controlling and eliminating drugs users and pushers but not to the extend of killing them in front of their families which can be an act of barbarians. We achieved peace and harmony thru peaceful way, but not the way of what is happening now in the Philippines, where killing of people is considered as way of eliminating the problem. Hope God will help his soul if he will meet Him someday….

I am an Ilongo and i am not affected by what the President had said.. shabolized iloilo! if this means that our city is proliferated by drugs, as what he mentioned by the implicated Generals, top ranking officials and Government officials as protectors then we should be wary and be thankfull to the president. With the considerable number of addicts who had surrendered here in the city and the region, it is then very alarming! We are in a state of calamity if the Pres will have to tell it in exageration. By then with the pronouncement the best that youll gonna do is to brace yourself because this will be a bumpy ride, not for your sake but for the future of the children..the next generation of Ilongos which is sane and does not have a destroyed BRAIN because of drugs! I support Duterte for his bold efforts! p.s. to the President, just verify everything..

The war on drugs is real. If the term hurts you, then do something about it rather than whine and complain.

Otherwise proven that those official were indead involved in the drug trade, He has no right to call Iloilo as such. Naming Iloilo as such is just the same as calling that most of the people here are drug addicts, in which i beg to disagree with him.

  12. How can you people say that we should not be affected when he used “most shabulized city?” He could have said “city with the pushers and drug addicts.” But to say that the whole city itself is “shabulized” is a totally different thing. The point there is he should have clarified what he meant and not bring put the name of the city in mud. You can fight crime without putting the whole city and province to shame.

    Like

    1. Just a clarification, he did not say that the whole city is shabulized..He said, “most shabulized city”, as what you also stated. These two are different. “Most shabulized city” doesn’t mean that majority of the people are drug addicts and/or pushers. it’s a comparison with other cities but doesn’t mean majority of the people in the area are addicts/or pushers. Just see it like this, you have 3 circles which are individually cut in 12. 1st circle has a slice with a shade of green, 2nd with 2 slices and the 3rd has 3. With this, you called the 3rd one as the “most green”. But if you will look at the 3rd circle the color green doesn’t cover a big part of the circle. Which I believe the same with the people in Iloilo City.

It is the government officials of the province who should be taking responsibility for the tainted name of iloilo. I understand the sentiment of mutya here…it is not bad to be sensitive…but hey…lets not get so carried away by our emotions…why not just find a way to prove to the entire Philippines and the world that even if the government officials have ruined the name of iloilo, the people…the ilonggos are not like them…support the move to irradicate drugs and prove that indeed iloilo is not that “shabulized”…that ilonggos do not tolerate these government officials.

I do not know how his team came up with all those information, but as a resident of Iloilo for the past 40 plus years, all I can see here are improvements and progress. The crime rate here is relatively low, and drug related crimes are not even very popular here compared to other progressive cities. I just hope our new administration will find more evidence before they subject everyone to trial by publicity.

That they will be aware that drugs can victimize every student that a starving and striving parent sacrificed to be sent to school.. lets not put drama to it. Since i wasnt connected to any of these suspects, i dont have the feeling of sympathy but to the future victims. I would rather think of my kids safety, rather than defending of what we know is the obvious. Just a sinple question you should ask to yourself. Why did drugs became so common in our city and what did the officials actually did to stop this? I love jed mabilog’s legacy of making iloilo city very progressive, and the least i could do is pray thet the truth will come out. Whatever it may be. But i condemn the drug lords. I can forget how one of my best friedn died because of it..

We want to live our beloved Iloilo Safe and secured.

I think this Mutya is an elite mangaranon Ilonggo who doesn’t look down to lowest society of people in Iloilo or what she looks only is the society she is now with or you maybe also one of the drug lords protector. Ano ka panit sibuyas? You are out of line, the President did not say that batchoy and biscocho has shabu! Considering the peoples who surrendered involved in drug trades is already an evidence, ano ka bulag o bulag bulagan lang, surrender your self if are one of them.
